BGSMath participates in the European Researchers’ Night 2018 with an initiative designed by Marina Garrote and Alessandro Oneto. They will guide us in a mathematical tour in the evocative location of the Dipòsit del Rei Martí, in Barcelona, just next to the Bellesguard Tower, designed by the renowned architect Antoni Gaudí.

There will be an exhibition of a selection of fascinating Imaginary images, spanning from impossible tilings, surfaces and singularities, and the unimaginable projective plane.

Plus, a set of micro-talks on the applications of mathematics to many aspect of our lives: from pictures, to music or evolutionary science, and much more!

This event will be held in Catalan, Spanish and English and is for all audiences.

The European Researchers’ Night aims to bring researchers closer to the general public and to increase awareness of research and innovation activities, creating an understanding of the impact of researchers’ work on citizen’s daily life, and encouraging young people to embark on research careers.

European Researchers’ Night is an open science event that makes science and the work of scientists familiar to audiences all over Europe. Activities span from the 28th to the 29th of September, night included. Here you can find a list of the activities in Catalonia (Nit de la Recerca).

This event is partly funded with the project 2017SGR932 Geometria de Varietats i Aplicacions.
