The five professors took office on July 15, 2025, in a ceremony chaired by the rector of the UPC.

On July 15, the inauguration ceremony of new professors at the UPC in different areas of knowledge took place. Among the teachers who took possession of the chair, we highlight the DMAT professors Inma Baldomá, Maria Bras, Jezabel Curbelo, Gemma Huguet and Marta Peña. The event was chaired by the rector of the UPC, Francesc Torres.

We would like to congratulate the colleagues on obtaining the chair, which recognizes the excellent work done in research and teaching.

Inmaculada Baldomá is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), teaching at the ETSEIB and the FME; she belongs to the Dynamic Systems Group of the UPC and is a member of the Institute of Mathematics of the UPC (IMTech) and the Center for Mathematical Research (CRM). She has been deputy director of research at the Department of Mathematics at the UPC and academic secretary of the board of directors of the Catalan Society of Mathematics. Her research is in Theoretical Dynamic Systems with special emphasis on determining conditions guaranteeing the existence of chaotic dynamics and instability.

Maria Bras-Amorós has been a professor in the Telecommunications section of the Department of Mathematics since the beginning of the 24/25 academic year, and teaches at the FME and the ETSEIB. She was a student of the third mathematics promotion at the FME. In between, she has worked at the UAB and the URV and has done various stays at San Diego State University and other universities. Her research is mainly in the theory of error-correcting codes and algebraic combinatorics, although she has also made some incursions into the mathematics of music, scientometrics and mathematics teaching.

Jezabel Curbelo is a Ramon y Cajal researcher at the Department of Mathematics of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), belongs to the Dynamic Systems Group of the UPC, member of the Institute of Mathematics of the UPC (IMTech), of the Center for Mathematical Research (CRM) and Guess Investigator of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI). She is a collaborator of the management team of the Department of Mathematics in the Research area and Science Officer of the Nonlinear Processes in Geosciences division of the European Geosciences Union in the area of Turbulence, transport and diffusion. Her research focuses mainly on mathematics applied to geophysical fluids and related problems.

Gemma Huguet is a professor in the Department of Mathematics at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), belongs to the Dynamic Systems Group of the UPC and is a member of the Institute of Mathematics of the UPC (IMTech) and the Center for Mathematical Research (CRM). She is currently deputy director of IMTech and teaches at the ETSEIB and the FME. Her research combines the development of analytical and numerical methods for the study of dynamic systems with applications to computational neuroscience, especially in the analysis of oscillations in neural networks.

Marta Peña is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and a member of the Institute of Organization and Control of Industrial Systems (IOC) at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). She teaches at the South Campus (ETSEIB, FME). She has been deputy director of the Institute of Education Sciences (2016-2019) and of the ETSEIB (2021-2025). She was a member of the SCL-EG (Linear Control Systems: Geometric Study) research group and is currently the head of the SOC-STEM (Social Impact of STEM, https://socstem.upc.edu/) research group at the UPC.
