The MAPTHE and CoDAlab research groups took part in the Health Day, “Applied Research: The Strength of Industry,” organized by UPC and the BCN Medicare Industrial Hub on September 15, 2026.
The MAPTHE and CoDAlab research groups, affiliated with the UPC Department of Mathematics, participated in the Health Day, “Applied Research: The Strength of Industry,” organized by UPC and the BCN Medicare Industrial Hub and held at UPC’s Diagonal-Besòs Campus.
The event brought together several UPC research groups developing technologies and solutions applied to the healthcare sector, with particular attention to research results at a technological readiness level close to TRL 5.
Representing MAPTHE, Ángeles Carmona presented work on mathematical models and data analysis for breast cancer detection, titled “Mathematical Models and Data Analysis for Medical Diagnosis (Breast Cancer Detection).” The presentation focused on applying mathematical models and reconstruction techniques to develop new diagnostic tools. On behalf of CoDAlab, José Rodellar presented “AI, Control, and Data-Based Diagnosis for Smart Medical Devices.”
The event also helped foster connections between UPC research groups and the industrial and biomedical sectors, highlighting the potential of university research to advance toward applications and technologies that can be transferred to the healthcare sector.
