Abstract:

In Part I I will focus on the efficient generation of cryptographic systems parameters and some derandomization problems.

In Part II on mutual reductions between the familiar hard computational problems.

In Part III I will present some motivations for using the values of Kronecker's symbols to provide the idea for construction of candidats of one-way functions.

We want to remind you the upcoming MURPHYS-HSFS 2016 Workshop which will be held at the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, Bellaterra, Barcelona from June 13 to 17, 2016.

The Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, Barcelona, and the Collaborative Research Center 910, Berlin are pleased to announce the joint international multidisciplinary workshop MURPHYS-HSFS-2016. The workshop, devoted to mathematical theory and applications of the multiple scale systems and systems with hysteresis is the 8th workshop that continues a series of biennial conferences focused on multiple scale phenomena, singular perturbations, phase transitions and hysteresis phenomena occurring in mathematical, physical, economical, engineering and information systems.

We want to emphasize that April 30 is the deadline for the early bird registration fee.

Computational geometry seminars: J. Pfeifle

The simplexity of a convex d-polytope P with n vertices is the minimum number of simplices necessary to triangulate P without using new vertices. In dimension 3 and above, bounds for the simplexity are scarce, even in such well-studied cases as the d-dimensional cube. One general method for obtaining bounds on the simplexity is doing linear optimization over the universal polytope U(P). However, since U(P) lives in (d+1)-dimensional space, these linear programs quickly become infeasible computationally. On the other hand, if P is symmetric, we can use techniques from the representation theory of finite groups to simplify the computations. In the Tuesday session, we'll give a crash course on the basics of representation theory, and apply these tools to the problem at hand on Friday.
